Design Your Own Quilt

Join Isabelle Selak of South Bay Bella Studio for this great class, Design Your Own Quilt:

Using variations of basic blocks such as HST and Drunkard Path, students will design their own quilt. Instruction will focus on the importance of color placement and the emergence of secondary patterns. Design tools such as the phone app Layout and quilt design iPad app Quiltography will be demonstrated.

Students should bring:

3 yards of coordinating solids or prints. For easy contrast during the design process, students can bring 1 yard of background fabric (low volume or dark fabrics for contrast) and 2 yards of coordinating solids or prints. An even mix of light, medium, and dark fabrics will allow for maximum flexibility when designing your quilt.

Rotary cutter

Quilting ruler (minimum 6”x13”)

Marking tool (regular pencil or water soluble pen or pencil)

Paper templates will be provided for students who would like to make Drunkard Path blocks.

The photos included are just two examples of the type of quilt that you can design in this class. You are the designer this time, so the sky’s the limit!
